Rememberance Day: Remembering a Dark Spot in American History That Could Be Repeated

For someone who never pays attention to politics, this is the second issue in just 2 months that has moved me to reach out to my senators and congressmen!

You know, I only heard about this dark spot in World War II American history when reading Tom Brokaw's "The Greatest Generation". Almost 70 years ago, executive Order 9066 authorized the U.S. military to remove any person from designated “military zones” without charge, trial or any kind of due process.  This Order led to the forced evacuation and internment over over 120,000 Japanese Americans, two thirds of whom were U.S. CITIZENS that were placed into internment camps, simply because they looked like the attackers of Pearl Harbor!!!!!!

..... It is a mistake that we are about to make again if we don't use our voting power to protect our freedom. S. 1253 (McCain/Levin) would authorize a similar sweeping authority, granted to the President, to order the detention–without charge or trial–of any person even suspected of being associated with a “terrorist organization.”

Please, write to your senator, telling her or him to vote against S.1253, and to say loudly and clearly:  “Never Again.”

Another Year Over, A New One Just Begun

As the year draws to a close, now is a good time to reflect on all that has been accomplished. However, I still need some time to think about it and to decompress :).

So, for now I will just take a look at my most read blogs in 2011. To date, there have been 4,430 page views, about 1400 of that was in 2011. 3 of the top 10 were posts were actually quite old. For the second year in a Row, Shari takes the #1 spot ... I wish it were for a better reason.

Thank you to all who quietly read along with me, all who reached out to comment in some way, and also to those who lovingly convicted me.

The Conquering Hero Returns

Somehow I stumbled on an interesting Mark Driscol sermon (Its only about 7 minutes long).

It is on Revelation 19:11-21 when Christ returns as our conquering hero to win the final battle over sin and death, and deliver us to a new heaven and new earth where there is no more pain and suffering. This brief sermon focuses only on the passages that describe Jesus as our battle ready Savior coming to our rescue on a white horse and his sword at the ready. When watching the sermon though, it is important to keep his final statements in mind. We are called to live like Jesus did during His first coming. This is just a glimpse of how Christ will come in Victory when He Returns.

I will warn you that his delivery is more "in your face" than I would like, but I do enjoy the Biblical imagery of our Hero coming back to save a world in distress. That part is very cool!! :).
